RP Home Vaccinated 99% of Resident Population

Residents and staff at RP Home received the COVID-19 Vaccine on January 6, 2021.  We vaccinated a total of 64 personal care and nursing residents (every resident except 1!) and more than 51 staff/contractors at RP Home.  In addition, residents of the Vista and Upper Rooms were offered the vaccination.

Ed Hixenbaugh, LPN, administers the COVID vaccine to Tammy Hunt, CNA.

Rx Partners, Inc. and RP Home provided two more COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics (February3rd and March 3rd). We continue to offer the vaccine to all staff and newly admitted residents. In addition, the RP Home team assists discharged residents in returning to the facility to receive their second dose, if necessary.

Jason Dolby, McKee Place Administrator, administers COVID-19 Vaccine to Cara D. Todhunter, Executive Director.

RP Home continues to encourage all employees to receive the COVID vaccine. Receiving the vaccine is another step in protecting our residents, family and friends.

We won’t let COVID-19 get us down as long as we can “clown around”!

Since March the residents at RP Home, much like residents at our neighboring facilities, have not been able to see their loved ones in-person.  Unfortunately, it is necessary to maintain a strict visitation protocol to maintain he safety of our residents and staff.

We know it is even more important during these tough times to ensure our residents are having fun.  The activities department, therapy department and personal care staff has teamed up to provide engaging events!

The residents at McKee Place enjoyed a day at the Circus in September.  Residents played ring toss, milk bottle knockdown; balloon darts, goldfish toss and many other games.  This was a great way to keep the residents physically active working their balance, gait and range of motion while still having fun!  What is a circus without food?  Residents and staff took in the aromas and tastes of homemade cotton candy, popcorn and snow cones.  Prior to the photo-shoot, faces were painted as super heroes, cats and butterflies.

To continue with the circus fun, Phil Crosson, provided a magic show outside in the courtyard to residents in McKee Place and Nursing.  Magic could be seen from the resident’s rooms, foyer and courtyard.  The courtyard has been a blessing during COVID as it has allowed us to entertain while maintaining the social distancing precautions.  In addition, the residents enjoyed beautiful days taking in the sun and breeze.

The Personal Care Aides who care for the McKee Place residents threw a Steeler Party for Monday Night Football.  David Boxley, Alisha Hunt, Donneia Page and Tina Page planned an evening with decorations, Steeler gear and great food!  These four staff members were recognized for going Above and Beyond.

We appreciate the continued commitment of the RP Home staff to provide exciting activities which support the residents in their physical, social and emotional well-being!
