Generations of Giving, End of Year Appeal

“Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations.” Psalm 90:1

For many generations, the Reformed Presbyterian Home has served its residents faithfully, attending to the spiritual, physical, mental, and social needs of those who have entered its doors.

My first memories of visiting the RP Home are as a young child coming to visit my great-grandmother, Margaret Willson McFarland. Whenever we were in town visiting family, it was always a treat to come to the RP Home to visit her and other family friends who were being well-cared for in their final years. As children, my siblings and I did not grasp the importance of the role that the RP Home had not only played for our many friends within the denomination, but also the opportunities the RP Home provided to show God’s care for His people in the Perry Hilltop neighborhood.

As we grew older and our grandparents, S. Bruce Willson and Phil and Jean Martin, took up residence at the RP Home, we saw more clearly the ways that God was using the mission of the Home to care for the many godly men and women who had served in the pastorate and mission fields in their younger years, alongside residents from around the Pittsburgh area. It was, and continues to be, a great vision of how to serve our neighbors even as we slow down and adjust to new ways of how to show God’s love to those around us.

I have known RP Home residents to be some of the fiercest prayer warriors as their health failed and they could no longer see. What a blessing each resident has been over the generations!

Recently I was asked to serve on the Board of Directors of the Reformed Presbyterian Woman’s Association and saw this as an opportunity to give back to an organization that served our family well over the generations. I am learning a lot about the ins and outs of what it takes to run the RP Home and am encouraged by the graciousness of the staff and the love they have for the residents, as well as their desire to be good stewards of the resources that God provides for the mission of the Home.

During this season of reflection and thanksgiving, I pray that you will join me in giving to the mission of the Reformed Presbyterian Home.  Please consider donating to one of the several opportunities available to support the work of the Home and the care of its residents. You can make a one-time or recurring donation online at www.rphome.org/give/ or by using the enclosed form. Donations that you give provide a supportive living environment for our residents.

We also invite you to come by the Home and spend time with the residents as a volunteer. They love to have visitors!

May God bless you as we close out 2023 and look forward to what He has in store for us in 2024.

Sincerely,

Judy Willson
